Mompreneurs: Try these Top 10 Productivity Tips

Becoming an entrepreneur is a lot of work and so is being a mom. So why would any sane person do both and become a mompreneur? You don't have to be sane but you do have to be productive and that’s why these 10 amazing productivity tips will help you be a successful mompreneur:

1. PUT YOUR HEALTH FIRST

I believe that good health is at the root of productivity, both in the workplace and in life. Good health starts with food and with healthy eating habits so that you can work with a high level of energy and can tackle everything that needs to get done.

2. DROP THE GUILT

As working mothers, we can be really hard on ourselves. We may have conflicting feelings, including guilt, anger, fear and helplessness that we can’t do it all. And guess what, no one can do it all.

3. ELIMINATE DISTRACTIONS

You must know your pockets of productive time and be absolutely committed to no distractions even if it means locking yourself in a room to get it done. For me, co-working spaces help me escape the distractions of home, kids and my family responsibilities, its my slice of uninterrupted productive time pie.

4. BRIBE YOURSELF

Bribe your ‘inner child’ with a reward for staying productive for a long stretch of time or completing a goal. It's an idea I got from my career coach and something that will always stick with me, reward yourself for every tiny goal achieved and celebrate every victory - it makes the journey so much more enjoyable.

5. PRE-COOK MEALS AND MEAL PREPARATION

Not always easy but the ultimate productivity tip is to pre-cook dinners for the entire working week on Sundays. Its also helpful to do all possible preparations: cook and freeze grains/beans/broth, prepare sauces, slice vegetables and pack them in portions, make salads etc. It helps to save a lot of time on cooking after work.

6. PRIORTISE TO GET RESULTS

Focus on money making and network-building tasks first—so for me, I need to stop myself from fiddling around design on my website or instagram post and get out there!

7. BE PRESENT

Be 100% Present. Your attention is a precious commodity. Whether you are with your kids or working in your business, be present with your full attention. Multi-tasking isn’t effective and if you aren’t focused on your kids they’ll know it and fight for your attention. Your business also deserves your full focus so I find it helps to create a schedule and stick with it to ensure that everything important gets your undivided attention.

8. DON'T BE A HERO

Decide not to be a super independent hero - ask for help. Pay people to do tasks that are not in your sweet spot. You could even get your children involved by getting them to do work around the house.

9. KNOW YOUR WHY

Getting really clear on your why (and having it connect to your values) is rocket fuel to get moving on doing your best work. Have a vision board or clear goal of what you want - its extremely powerful to turn your why’s around into something you DO want.

10. LET IT GO

Set your perfectionist self aside, and let it go. If you try to focus on all of the little details, you won’t get anything done. Try focus on the big picture and plan ahead to keep your business successful and your family happy and healthy.

All I can say is R.E.S.P.E.C.T to all the working moms out there, we salute you. And if you're looking for a space to work, try co-working, there is so much power and support in the community you join.
